MediaAudit Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

OVERVIEW

MediaAudit (“the app,” “we,” “us”) is a tool that analyzes publicly available media content — such as news articles and web pages — for linguistic bias, logical fallacies, and missing perspectives. This policy explains what information the app handles and how.

We have designed MediaAudit to collect as little personal information as possible. The app does not require an account, and we do not ask for your name, email, or other personal identifiers to use it.

INFORMATION WE PROCESS

When you submit a URL to be audited, the app processes the following:

– The URL you submit. This is sent to our server so the content at that address can be retrieved and analyzed.

– The publicly available content at that URL (the article or page text), which is retrieved by our server for the purpose of generating an audit.

– Basic technical request data that any internet service receives, such as your device’s IP address, used solely for rate-limiting (to prevent abuse) and operating the service. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

We do not collect: your name, email address, contacts, photos, location, or any other personal data from your device. We do not use third-party analytics or advertising trackers.

HOW ANALYSIS WORKS (THIRD-PARTY AI PROCESSING)

To analyze content, the text retrieved from the URL you submit is sent to a third-party large language model provider, Anthropic (the maker of Claude), which performs the forensic analysis and returns a structured result. Anthropic processes this content according to its own privacy and data-use policies. We send only the content to be analyzed and the URL — we do not send any personal information about you.

CACHING OF RESULTS

To keep the service fast and affordable, audit results for a given public URL may be cached (stored) on our server and reused. This means:

– A result is associated with the public URL, not with you.

– Cached audits contain analysis of public web content only — they do not contain personal information about the person who requested them.

USAGE MEASUREMENT

The app records a small set of anonymous usage events (such as “app opened” or “support link tapped”) to help us understand whether MediaAudit is useful. These events include a random install identifier that is not derived from you or your device, cannot be linked to your identity, and is deleted when you uninstall the app. This measurement is first-party only — the data goes to our own server and is never shared or sold.

DATA RETENTION

Submitted URLs and their cached audit results may be retained to operate the caching feature. They are tied to the public URL, not to any individual. Technical request data used for rate-limiting is short-lived and not retained for profiling.

CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

MediaAudit is not directed at children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction) and does not knowingly collect personal information from them.

WHAT MEDIAAUDIT’S ANALYSIS IS — AND ISN’T

The audits MediaAudit produces are AI-generated, probabilistic observations about the structure and language of a text. They are not statements of fact, professional or legal advice, or determinations of actual wrongdoing by any person or outlet. Results represent one analytical perspective to consider alongside your own judgment.

YOUR CHOICES

Because the app does not collect personal data or require an account, there is no personal profile to access or delete. If you have questions about a specific cached URL or wish to request its removal from our cache, contact us at the address below.

CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this policy as the app changes (for example, if we add user accounts or subscriptions). The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent version.
